South Korea lifts emergency martial law, largest opposition party demands immediate resignation of president

At around 5am local time on the 4th, South Korea held a state council meeting and passed a resolution to lift the emergency martial law. Earlier that morning, South Korean President Yoon Seok yeol announced through live television that the martial law forces had been withdrawn and would immediately lift the martial law order by convening a state council meeting. On the evening of the 3rd, Yoon Seok yeol made an emergency statement at the Longshan Presidential Palace in Seoul, issuing an emergency martial law order. Yin Xiyue stated that this move is aimed at eradicating the "northern forces" and maintaining the "free constitutional order". Early in the morning of the 4th, the South Korean National Assembly held a meeting and passed a resolution calling for the lifting of martial law. The Speaker's Office of the South Korean National Assembly stated that with the passage of the resolution, the emergency martial law is no longer effective.
